I bought 4 of these to hold my Holiday decorations. Little did I realize that they won't stack. The lid is domed. I moved from Germany back to the US and in shipping all the lids cracked and broke. I will never buy unstackable containers again. Lesson learned.

I purchased 3 of these great storage containers. They seal perfectly and stack together for easy storage. There is ample space to make plates of your leftovers. I have washed these many times and they still seal perfectly. However I have never microwaved it with the cover on or put them in the dishwasher. I plan on having them last a long time and any container will warp with constant dish washer or microwave use. If you are thinking of spending the money it is definitly worth it although these are now hard to find.

Emsa E502224 Clip & Close Deep Rectangular-Shaped Transparent Food-Storage Container Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I now cook all my own food for health concerns ( no more commercially grown meats and vegetables for me -- so I rarely eat out in restaurants.
For efficiency purposes, not only do I pack a day's worth of food to take in with me to work -- but I do 90% of my cooking and preparation for the week on Sunday.
I realized I was going through a couple of dozen plastic bags of various sizes every week -- and the ecology of it was too disturbing.
And though Emsa products like this are also plastic, I use them over and over and they have a 30 year guarantee.
So I started ordering some of one size and then others. I even have begun to get rid of my old plastic containers because I have discovered how fresh the Emsa containers keep my food compared to the more traditional brand name plastic containers.
So I have 1/2 - 3/4 a dozen of about every size and am buying those that I don't.
Just a tip -- I found that the square and rectangle ones are far more efficient than the round ones. You can fit more containers in your cooler bag that are square or rectangle than you can with round ones. I haven't bought any round ones yet. I may for "decorative purposes -- as round is certainly more pleasing to the eye -- but only if I am convinced if I will use them frequently enough to justify the consumption of the plastic.

Rubbermaid Premier Food Storage Containers Review

Rubbermaid Premier Food Storage Containers
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm only giving these 3 stars (I thought about 2 stars) but the reason is because of how Rubbermaid completely RUINED the awesome (5 star) Stain Shield line they had before this travesty came along. I hate to say it, but if you're looking for good plastic containers, these are probably the best ones out there at the moment (because of the Stain Shield technology), but only if you can get over the absolutely horrendous lid design. In my opinion, the Stain Shield containers that these replaced were superior in so many ways. Redesigning the lid to be fancy just ruined the line, so if you're Rubbermaid, how about bring back the old Coke formula?
Problem #1
Sure, the lids flex more than the old ones, but it comes at BIG price of being very, very difficult to clean when the old model was SO EASY! That gray part really is rubber and scouring pads don't do well in cleaning rubber; it just sticks. Go throw some soap suds on your car tires and see how easy it is to clean with a kitchen scrubber, now clean your car windows with the same scrubber. That's the difference between the old line and this one. It's like trying to scrub off the residue that an adhesive label leaves behind. Don't get me started on the deep grooves in the lid that you're never going to get into to clean either. It boggles my mind how they thought this improvement was sanitary.
Problem #2
The lids are recessed and go BELOW the surface of the lip when fully seated - at least a quarter inch if not more! So no longer can you fill up the bowl to it's capacity like before. Also, there's no line that tells you were that limit is so it's sort of a guessing game. Did you put too much soup in the container? Well, the only way to know for sure is to set the lid on and see if you get soup being pushed out the sides when you press the lid on. So yeah, before you didn't get anything on the lid and it was easy to clean; now you get a ton of stuff on the lid and it's really hard to clean. What were you thinking Rubbermaid? Terrible design, just terrible. The old model didn't do this and sat flush, if not just a little above the top of the container.
Problem #3
If you stack 2 containers on top of each other with their lids on, you have to lift the container up out of a depression from the lid it's sitting on top of, you can't slide it out. That's hard to explain, but if you look at the picture you can probably get the idea. Again, the previous model had a completely flat top, which meant that when they were in the fridge, you could slide them out easily. That may not seem like a big deal when it's in the cupboard, but when it's in a packed fridge with other containers, it just gets annoying. Another terrible design "improvement". Although I will say that some folks will probably like this feature since it keeps the containers stacked more neatly and are less prone to sliding off of each other. This is not a problem in my house.
Problem #4
There's more rubber on the lid which means you can't see inside the container as well as before. They've cut the viewing area down significantly and they are much more difficult to seat. You have to line them up just right.
Problem #5
The previous model let you microwave something with the lid cracked on the container, flip the lid over when it was done microwaving, and set the hot container on it and walk away. Voila! An easy-to-walk-away-with a hot container! It was like having a built-in pot holder. Those days are over with this lid.
The Good #1
The bottom part of the containers didn't change much, just a little curvier but still 100% functional; no complaints there at all. The stain-shield technology is just amazing and in the 5+ years I've been using them, not one stain! That part is huge for me since I store and microwave a lot of tomato-based items. Also, they do not retain odors, so that's another HUGE plus for this garlic lover.
The Good #2
You can microwave and freeze these containers a thousand times and not have any worries. They can take pretty much anything you can throw at them. In 5 years I've had 2 bowls crack just from normal wear and tear. That's pretty good if you ask me.
If you don't know if you should get the round or square sizes, I have both the round and square containers and find the square to be much easier when it comes to storage. It's a much more efficient use of space in the refrigerator.
The red line of these bowls are BPA-free.
All-in-all, the lid "improvements" they made to this line have completely ruined it in my opinion. I'm always on the lookout for remnants of their old line, but to no avail; I can't find them anywhere. I need to buy more containers, but in the meantime, I'm hoping for a better design to come out, either Rubbermaid or someone else.
**If you know of a better product than this one, please leave a comment and let us all know!!!

I have been looking for an inexpensive flour container that will last for some time now. At a 21 cup/ 5 liter capacity, this is perfect for 5 pound bags of flour. The plastic is sturdy and the container is easy to pick up with one hand.
The lid has a tight seal. It is also easy to remove and you can do it with one hand -- important when baking to make things go smoothly.
I have bought two of these containers, one for white and one for whole wheat flour. I am planning on buying another to store my sugar. Definitely a good buy!

Tupperware Impressions 2 Qt Pitcher Tangerine Review

I have been a big Tupperware fan since I was in college! This is a wonderful redesign on the original Tupperware pitchers, which were the typical round shape and took up too much room on the refrigerator shelf. This new design is slim and easily fits on the shelf in less space, or conveniently stores in the refrigerator door. Not easily prone to spills, the top adjusts easily for pouring. It seems as if water, iced tea and juices stay fresher longer with this Tupperware beauty!!!

Lock & Lock Storage 16.75 Cup Large Container Review

Lock and Lock Storage 16.75 Cup Large Container
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have 5 of these for storing different types of flour. They seal great and I can open them one handed.
The most important thing for me was that they fit the contents of a 5 lb bag of flour perfectly. (You can dump the flour in or store the bag inside. Both work, but I dump the flour in the container and put a label on top.)
Note that they store the contents of a bag of flour without much room to spare. So you have to use up the contents before you can refill. (This is how I prefer it because I like to wipe it out before refilling anyway.)
***** 2/20/11 Update *****
I bought 3 more of these late 2010. One for myself and 2 for family. We got lazy and decided to put sugar in one of these instead of in the smaller 11 cup size. (The smaller 11 cup size fits a bag of sugar perfectly, but the container has to be completely empty.)
Also I bumped the lid of one of these hard against the cabinet accidentally and it cracked off a piece of the lid. I called customer service and they shipped me another one right way. Amazing!

Tupperware Keep Tabs Square Kitchen Storage Containers, Set of 5 Sizes Review

Haven't tried the tupperware because it is a wedding gift. However we are a household of tupperware users. Although a little more expensive than comparable products we are secure in knowing that tupperware carries a lifetime warranty. In thirty years that warranty may have been used just once and it was replaced free of charge. We are in Japan and an interesting observation is that most all Japanese think that any sort of vinyl or plastic container no matter what the brand or price is called tupperware. Makes one smile when you see what they use and think is tupperware.

Sterilite Corp. 04900012 Ultra Seal 1 Gallon Pitcher Review

Sterilite Corp. 04900012 Ultra Seal 1 Gallon Pitcher
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Because of the shape of this double pitcher It's the perfect one for anyone who makes pitchers everyday. MAINLY BECAUSE It Takes up no more space than a single pitcher and EVEN LESS than those fat round pitchers.
With kids drinking a lot you only have to make pitchers 1/2 as often.
I have had 4 of these though and none have lasted longer than 6 months of constant use. I purchased 3 this purchase alone and the very 1st one I'm using has a broken seal around the top before the pour clasp clips In.
It doesn't leak but It keeps falling off Into the drink sometimes.
Like I said they are not made well but can't be beat for space saver and 2 pitchers in one. I wish Tupperware, Rubbermaid or someone would make a better quality one. They are great. I've gotten my 1st few at dollar stores! Yes! But they are hard to find so. I bought 3 to help aleviate shipping costs.

Lock & Lock Storage 1 Gallon Large Pitcher Review

Lock and Lock Storage 1 Gallon Large Pitcher
Average Reviews:

I'm a fan of Lock & Lock products, so when I was on the search for an iced tea pitcher, I was thrilled to stumble on this. So much so that I even preordered it! I am happy to say that it did not disappoint me. It's just the right height for my top refrigerator shelf but it's shaped so that it would fit on the door (assuming you actually have any room on your door shelves...I know I never do)!
I'm especially enamored with the lid which locks down tight, keeping your beverage free from the encroaching odors and odd flavors from the other items in the fridge. The spout is drip-proof and performs well. The pitcher is dishwasher safe and washes up beautifully. Also the slim and tall design helps disperse the weight of a gallon of liquid so that it's not quite so hard on the wrist. I HIGHLY recommend this product.

Rubbermaid Premier Food Storage Set, Tritan Review

Rubbermaid Premier Food Storage Set, Tritan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
To start with, let me say I realize this review is a little over the top. I mean after all, we are talking about a cheap little container we use to store left-over macaroni. That being said, if you're like my family we end up storing, heating, and washing these containers a lot and we want them to clean up easy, not warp or crack in the dishwasher, and above all, to be safe (especially for use when my wife is pregnant and for storing or heating food for our children).
The original Premier line was the only plastic food storage product I've ever owned that didn't stain when it held tomato sauce. It's wasn't just tomato sauce: all kinds of berries in sugar, purple cabbage, beets, you name it we've stored it. They just didn't stain. They were hard, durable, and the lids were really easy to put on and take off. Microwaving and dishwashing did little to the appearance (they dull slightly but it's barely noticeable). Easily the best product of its kind I'd ever owned.
And one day I threw them all away.
When my wife and I started our family we took a good survey of the science and decided that the health risks associated with BPA were probably real. We are both very analytical engineers who did way too much research into this. We decided that while the risks to adults were inconclusive there was serious indicators that BPA's endocrine disrupting aspects were very likely a health risk for babies, particularly in the early days of fetal development (one large manufacturer of BPA now refuses to sell it for use in infant products). We decided to get rid of any polycarbonate food containers made with BPA and so the Premier (which contained BPA) got tossed out. We switched to the Easy Find Lids line which was good, but not as good as the Premiere line.
In of March 2010 Rubbermaid introduced a new line of Premier food storage containers that are BPA free. These have red lids, a swirl pattern in the plastic and "BPA Free" stamped on the bottom. These are made using the "Tritan" branded co-polymer manufactured by Eastman. Eastman has specifically developed Tritan to avoid the health risks associated with plastics made with BPA. So there are two questions: Is it safe? And does it work as well as the old Premier line?
Is it safe?
The answer appears to be yes, and I think Eastman has done a good job of publishing their testing methods and using reputable outside research to validate that Tritan is very safe. It passes (of course) the basic toxicity test and skin testing (to their great credit Eastman has published their testing methods for peer review). More importantly none of the monomers used in manufacturing (there are three) interact with the endocrine system. To be specific they were tested by the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School for estrogen and testosterone binding (there was none). It was further subjected to both Ueterotrophic and Hershberger assays by Wil Research Laboratories. The uterotrophic assay test for estrogenicity (basically "does it imitate estrogen") on both immature and ovulating female rats. The Hershberger assays test for androgen affects (most notably testosterone). In both cases there were no affects. (BPA for example has demonstrated BPA-induced uterotrophy in rats in testing done by the National Institutes of Health.) In short, it does appear that pregnant women and babies can safely use these products: it should not disrupt natural hormonal activity.
Does it work?
In most cases Tritan is better than polycarbonate and better than other BPA free alternatives such as transparent ABS, cyclic olefin, and impact modified acrylics. About the only thing that the "old" Premier was better at was heat resistance. What distinguishes Tritan from other co-polymers is that it combines hydrolytic resistance, heat resistance, stress tolerance and chemical resistance. Which is to say you can clean in the dishwasher over and over without it warping or cracking. A home dishwasher attacks dishes with heat (up to 70c) chemical detergents, water, and abrasion (when overpacked). Tritan has a transition temperature of around 110c (just enough to let you safely sterilize baby bottles made from it) far above the temperature of even commercial dishwashers. Tritan is also less likely to warp or crack under stress than polycarbonate. So whereas the old Premiere might crack or warp after a dozen runs in an overfull dishwasher, the new Premier can survive hundreds of such runs. It's high chemical resistance not only protects it from detergents it means you can store tomato sauce in it. In short it's generally better than the old Premier line except that if you leave both too close to the stove, the new Premier will melt first. So don't do that.
I've tried them out myself and I have to say the new Premier line is probably the best plastic food container line out there. I don't particularly care for the swirly lines, but aside from that I really like them.

A handy starter set from Rubbermaid's Premier line of food storage containers, this 12-piece collection offers the reassurance of airtight, no-spill, no-damage storage that works equally well in the home or on the go. The Premier series is crafted of BPA-free Tritan plastic that is both shatterproof and especially resistant to stains and odors. Dark red Flex & Seal lids are easy to secure tightly to the bases and each has a clear center for maximum viewing. For efficient organization, the lids snap together as well as to the corresponding bases, and one lid can accommodate several different sizes of base. Included in this set are two 1-1/4-cup, two 2-cup, one 3-cup, and one 5-cup bases and six lids. All pieces are refrigerator-, freezer-, microwave-, and dishwasher-safe.

This item appears in the picture to be larger then it actually is. I bought it originally planning to store two 5 lb bags of flour in it ... however it only ended up being large enough for one 5 pound bag of flour. i will have to find something else to use this piece for, most likely a cookie jar as i neede one of those as well.
Watch out with this line as the sizes listed i.e 21.1 cups seem like alot but typically are less then you expect.

Tupperware Rock N Serve Divided Dish Review

Tupperware Rock N Serve Divided Dish
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

The Tupperware Rock N Serve Divided Dish is terrific. We have four of them two black, as shown in the product picture, and two amethyst ones. Until he retired, I used them for packing leftovers for my husband's lunch at work. Roast beef, pork roast, steak or chicken dinner leftovers were reheated with the food tasting just as good as it did when first served. We also used Tupperware's Apple & Grape Fruit Locker Container Set for his salads and fruit. His co-workers liked his enough to want their own.
Now that my husband has retired we still use them for reheating our leftover meals. He uses the black, I use the purple making it easy to tell them apart since we usually want different portion sizes of certain foods. We just heat them in the microwave using Power Level 7 to enjoy our leftovers. It saves using several different containers for leftovers and then needing to fix a plate. This way everything is divided for a one dish meal cleanup. We also like using our Tupperware Rock'N Serve 6-Piece Set, Gemstone for reheating leftovers. ~ Mrs B. (The Boss agrees!)
