Martha Stewart Collection Salad Chiller Review

Martha Stewart Collection Salad Chiller

Unfortunately, I did not buy this through Amazon. I bought it at Macy's last year and paid the full $13 - so it is a deal here at Amazon. I came upon this little salad chiller while looking for Christmas cards last year -- and thought it might come in handy. I LOVE it! It is easy to clean and is perfect for lunch. You can make a good sized salad of 2.5 cups of different types of lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, or whatever you choose and pop the lid on and put in the fridge. When you are ready for work the next day, the lettuce is chilled, and crisp, It is wonderful! There is a handy little container incorporated into the cover to hold plenty of salad dressing - and there you are! A perfect little container to help you stay on your diet and eat healthy foods even at work!
I highly recommend it!

FreshVac Plus Square Lunchpac Review

FreshVac Plus Square Lunchpac

I was very pleased with my new lunch bag! It was even better than I imagined. The only dissappointment was the two sided latches on the plastic container located in the bottom of the bag do not lock into place, so oftentimes the vacume seal does not work. By the time I go to lunch, the latches have popped up and the seal is loose, which is not a problem, but oftentimes if I carry something like stew, something rather thick but still has juice, it leaks out the sides and into the bottom of the bag. I learned that if I have stews or chili to place a rubber band around the container to help hold the seal down.

StayFit Lunch to Go Review

StayFit Lunch to Go
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I gave this two stars because it seems to be well-made and not flimsy, unlike some similar containers I've seen from another brand. And I like that they incorporated a compartment for silverware.
I bought this item at a store, and it was packaged in a box, so I couldn't look inside to discover the following. (And also, I lost the receipt so I wasn't able to return it.)
1. The lid on the condiments/silverware compartment may not last very long. It makes an ominous cracking noise every time I open it.
2. The built-in ice pack is indeed built-in... as in attached to the inside of the lid. I assumed that it would pop in and out of the lid for easier washing, but it does not.
3. Forget about washing, the built-in ice pack also means you have no lid to put (LOOSELY) on top of your lunch when you heat it up. I usually do this to retain heat and moisture and prevent spatter.
4. The lid seems to be leakproof to the outside of the container, but it does not even slightly prevent leaking or transfer between compartments. To make best use of this container, you need three large dry food items. No sauces, juices, etc. Small items (peas, corn) will easily get jostled between compartments as well.
5. Typically, with other containers, you make the food and pack it into a container, refrigerate it, and then when you're ready to go to work, you pack the container with a freezer brick. I'm not really sure how that translates to this container, because you have to freeze the entire lid. So if you pre-pack your food, either you freeze the whole thing, in which case I'm not sure why you need the freezer pack in the lid at all (your food will take a a few hours to thaw even without the freezer pack), or else you've already packed your food in a DIFFERENT container and are transferring it to this one. Which seems like a waste of dirty dishes and effort to me. Or maybe this is a fresh sandwich which you have just prepared. I don't know because I pack my lunches way ahead of time.
It's too bad. This could have been a great product if the freezer gel pack had been removable, and if the compartments were better protected from leakage. People who actually do make their lunch each morning, rather than a few days ahead, might still find it useful.
Update: I wish Amazon would let me change the number of stars on my review to 1. I threw this item out because the problems above render it more trouble than it's worth. (I did keep the spork, though - that was the only part worth keeping.) Space in my freezer is tight, and it's just ridiculous to have to put the entire bulky lid in there to freeze the gel pack. Seriously... if only the gel pack had been removable! It's too bad!!

Although the dish is of very nice quality, I don't think it's worth the price. I bought it for my 90 year old Mother in law and it's perfect in size for her small appetite. Just think it costs too much. Won't order again unless they go on sale.

EasyLunchboxes 3-compartment Food Containers (Set of 4) and EasyLunchboxes Insulated Lunch Cooler Bag,olive Review

EasyLunchboxes 3-compartment Food Containers (Set of 4) and EasyLunchboxes Insulated Lunch Cooler Bag,olive
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These are great! I bought 2 sets of them for my kids at the beginning of the school year, and they have turned out to be the best lunch boxes ever. Plenty of room for food, easy to clean, and the food isn't squished or mangled by lunch time. The container trays have held up well to normal use (2 didn't survive my youngest child throwing them as high as she could into the air to land on pavement-why she did this I don't know.) I've washed the fabric tote many times, and it's still great. Wished I had these years ago. Such an easy concept, but such a time saver.
I'll get 3 new ones before school starts next year. One for me too:)

Tupperware Mother's Day Lunch Bag Set w/ Sandwich Keeper, Tumbler, Bowl and smidget

This fashion trendy bag is great. It holds all of the items in the list and a napkin and utensils. I also bought some salt and pepper shakers from Tupperware and added them to the bag. You can keep your mayo or mustard in the little midget container, so your roll doesn't get soggy while waiting to eat your lunch. Great for office, school, or just carrying a lunch on the next trip in the car.

This was a great buy for my new kindergartener who I am training to be 'green'. The little snack cup is perfect for grapes (and not difficult for little ones to open by themselves), the sandwich holder is perfect. The tumbler obviously cannot go in a lunchbox b/c it is not spillproof, but good to use in the house. Can't go wrong with tupperware brand.Great price for the set.

Built Gourmet Getaway Review

Built Gourmet Getaway
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this product for about a month and it's been great! It arrived in the projected time frame and I use it about twice a week. There's plenty of room: I've fit bowl-sized tupperware, a travel mug, a 14oz water bottle, and yogurt all in there at once (it was a little tight but it zipped up alright thanks to the stretchy neoprene).
It insulates a little, although not as much as some other lunch carriers. I don't have a fridge at work, and it's summertime. While the food doesn't really stay cold, it doesn't get warm before I eat it. Since the bag is soft, if you put the tote in a backpack or something, your food might end up a little squished (but it is nice to be able to fold it up and put it in your bag once it's empty).
The only thing I had a problem with was the fact that it was actually so big--it's rather cumbersome when you just need to bring a sandwich and a yogurt cup. So, I'm thinking of getting Built's smaller LB Lunch Tote. Their products are definitely high-quality and worth spending a little more; I'd definitely buy from them again.
Oh, the last thing, which heavily influenced which kind of lunch tote I got: it is fun and fashionable! The polka dot pattern is adorably whimsical. The colors are more vivid in real life than in the pictures.

Perfectly sized to carry a picnic lunch for two--or a load of leftovers for one--the stylish, reusable Built NY Gourmet Getaway in MicroDot is a great way to stay green. Larger than its Tortuga and Relish siblings, this insulated meal tote is made from durable neoprene (the same material used for wetsuits) with no vinyl or PVC, and it keeps food warm or cold for up to 4 hours (depending on external temperatures). It stands upright for easy packing and flattens down like a paper bag for easy storage. Other features include a soft grip handle and a zippered closure. The Gourmet Getaway measures 13-1/2 by 13-1/2 by 7 inches. This stain-resistant tote is machine washable for easy care; let drip dry.

Tupperware Smidgets 1 Oz Bowl Set of 5 Purple Review

Tupperware Smidgets 1 Oz Bowl Set of 5 Purple
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These are great containers. At first, I was very disappointed in how poorly of a fit the lid and container were. But I decided to try them anyway, and proceeded to sanitize them properly.
Being a chef for six years has taught me many things. One of which, you should always boil new plastic containers for at least a minute (best at 5 minutes) to remove any contaminants from manufacturing. We get enough plastics and other chemicals in our diets already. And if you are buying for your kid's lunches like I did, you should do this purely for your family's sake.
The trick to plastic containers with fitted lids is that after you boil them in plain tap water for at least one minute:
1. Remove from boiling water using a pair of tongs or a slotted spoon.
2. Tip the container/lid so most of the water drains back into the pot.
3. Immediately find it's matching container/lid from the pot, and after draining it as well, put the two pieces together.
4. Allow to cool.
5. The lid and container should now be a much better fit. They might still be snug, but should be much easier on your fingers.
Don't take my word for it though. Please only try one at first to make sure it works as well for you as it does for me.
I hope this helps everyone purchasing this product.

Emsa E503392 Clip and Close Rectangular Food-Storage Container with Lid and 3 Removable Inserts Review

Emsa E503392 Clip and Close Rectangular Food-Storage Container with Lid and 3 Removable Inserts
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the BEST container for packing a lunch. The internal trays are perfectly sized for reasonable portions of an entree and two sides and I don't have to worry about the contents mixing or shifting on my way to work. I can pack any mix of hot/cold food items - just lift out the inserts that hold the hot food items and microwave them separately. You can further subdivide the compartments with silicon cupcake liners, if you like a lot of variety in your meal. This is great if you like to pack bento-style lunches.
This has never leaked in my purse, which is a HUGE plus. It is so much more convenient than packing multiple tupperware or ziploc containers/bags. One star off because I've noticed that after a couple rounds in the microwave, the edges of the inserts are bowing and warping a bit and they no longer fit snugly in the outside container. But that won't stop me from using it or buying another one for backup.

Equipped with four locking tabs and a wraparound silicone seal, the container's durable lid provides an extra-secure seal that ensures 100-percent leak-proof use, even when filled with sloshy soups, sauces, and other liquid-based foods. Best of all, the airtight lid locks in moisture and freshness, resulting in superior flavor and less food wasted. LunchBots Duo Stainless Steel Lunch Box/Food Container Review

LunchBots Duo Stainless Steel Lunch Box/Food Container
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased two of these "lunch box duo" systems for my preschooler's lunches, and I bought two of the "Oval Stainless Steel Systems" sold by another company. I wanted to avoid dangers of plastics as much as possible. I did not know which I would like more and which would work better for my needs.
Comparison:
Both arrived at the same time. However, I prefer the "oval stainless steel system" to the "lunch box duo" hands down. I won't boast about the other one in this review because that's tacky. I will just simply point out what I liked and didn't like about the duo.
Postive:
Duo arrived on time.
Lid fits well
$5.00 cheeper than the oval stainless steel system.
Negative:
The compartments are small and since they are fixed, it's limiting.
The tack welding on the divider created rough points on the ouside of the container. Yikes!
Shallow dish.
The tack welding issue is my biggest complaint and is prompting me to return it and give it 3 stars. I don' think the rough points would cut my daughter, but it's terrible that the steel is so thin that when they welded in the divider it created rough bumps on the outside. I worry about the tacking coming loose and or getting work. Also, It appears as if food could get lodged under the divider inbetween the tack welding. I am keeping the other product and returning this one. : (

Fit & Fresh Salad Shaker Review

Fit and Fresh Salad Shaker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love this salad shaker. It holds plenty of salad. As a side item, in a plastic baggie, I put crackers or bread. It would be really neat if they had a compartment for that. I only gave it 4 stars because the spfork and knife that come with it are a little small. However they are made out of a stronger plastic than what usually comes in a picnic utensil pack. The dressing compartment holds the perfect amount of dressing for the size salad you can pack in there. And with everything except the ice pack being dishwasher-safe, it's pretty easy to clean. I need two or three of these things just to last me to my next wash cycle! Great product.

I'm happy with this product, it's just the right size for taking lunch to school or work. However, the package will ultimately leak after some weeks or months of use and will permanently stain the lunch bag. My solution: put it inside a quart-size zip top bag.
