Norpro Stainless Steel Vegetable Chopper Review

Norpro Stainless Steel Vegetable Chopper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It chops garlic (skin on), jalapeno, and other hot chilli peppers brilliantly without leaving the harsh scent on your hands. Unfortunately, the blades are too flimsy and too dull to cut anything else. When I attempted to chop an onion, the blades merely bruised the onion, or left pieces of onion lodged between the blades. This even occurred after cutting the onion into smaller pieces, as recommended by other users. The compartment space is small, and the cap on the bottom of the compartment prevents the blades from working properly. In order to use this product effectively, you must remove the cap, and use a cutting board (thereby releasing the scent of whatever you are chopping, and rendering the cap feature useless). Unless using this solely for the purposes of chopping garlic, scallions, jalapeno, and the like, I would not recommend this product.

Zyliss Easy Chop Food Chopper with Smart Base Review

Zyliss Easy Chop Food Chopper with Smart Base
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Zyliss, 10700, Easy Chop Food Chopper with Smart Base
The Zyliss Easy Chop can chop and mince foods into the smallest of pieces with ease. The more you press, the smaller the pieces. Onions can be minced so finely that they are nearly undetectable by sight in sauces but still add desired flavor. And, onion odors are contained! The new design, however, means that I can no longer use the Easy Chop on my cutting board as I did with the older model. All foods must be inserted in the Smart Base before chopping. The rubber bottom on the Smart Base does help prevent slipping and reduces noise but I question how long it will last with repeated washings in the dishwasher. Only time will tell.

Zyliss Easy Slice Mandolin, White Review

Zyliss Easy Slice Mandolin, White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this mandoline to replace a ten-year-old Boerner V-slicer which I though was getting a little dull and now I'm glad I didn't throw the old one away. I use a mandoline to get consistently thin, thin slices, and the Zyliss doesn't get the job done. Cutting with the .75-mm insert yields slices that vary between paper-thin and 1/16 of an inch thick -- a very long way from .75mm. I suspect the plastic used in the frame and insert is just too flexible or too poorly supported to provide thin slices every time.
In addition the rail-guide system is cumbersome and makes it very difficult to position food for slicing.
In short, for me, this product was a waste of money and the only product I've ever ordered from Amazon that I wish I could send back.
Buy a Boerner V-slicer instead: its a better slicer and it costs...less!

It's both a superb vegetable and fruit slicer and a julienne (strip) cutter, with a safety rail-guided sliding track system that yields a safe, easy and controlled back-and-forth motion over the V-shaped stainless steel blade. Experience quick and effortless slicing of vegetables and fruits at various thicknesses, from paper thin to 1/2" thick, for consistent, professional-looking hors d'oeuvres, side dishes, entrees, desserts and beverages.

The Pampered Chef Cutting Edge Food Chopper Review

The Pampered Chef Cutting Edge Food Chopper

This is a great chopper, I use it to cut big chunks of vegetables for vegi soup, Tiny peices of celery, egg, and pickles for Tuna salad, minced onions and garlic for frying. I've had it for about three years now and it still chops like a champ ! I don't think it's that hard to clean, mostly I just take it apart and rinse it, but if it gets sticky it is dishwasher safe. I do most of my chopping with it and keep it on the countertop close at hand.

KitchenAid Pro Food Chopper Review

KitchenAid Pro Food Chopper
Average Reviews:

I recently purchased this food chopper, and I just love this thing. I had been using a food chopper from Pampered Chef and was never satisfied with that one. It was uncomfortable to use and too light for the task. In two years, I had replaced parts three times.
This chopper, although smaller, is heavier and much more durable. The large plunger is indeed quite comfortable and it chops like a dream. Perfect for those quick meals or small chopping projects. And as an added bonus, I could find a color that matched my kitchen.
This chopper is wonderful and well worth the small price.

Food Chopper (Perfect Chopper) Review

Food Chopper (Perfect Chopper)
Average Reviews:

Pros -
Chops firmer stuff like onions, bell peppers, etc. pretty well. Gotta be careful not to underestimate # of chops, then chop more if pieces too big. Otherwise a couple or three extra chops can result in a semi-puree!
Cleanup is pretty easy and quick.
Cons -
Useless for mushrooms, which is one of the things I need to chop most often - the pieces of mushrooms get wedged in between the blades, which prevents the blades from being lifted all the way back up for the next chopping motion. I had to use a couple of different small utensils to get in between the blades and unwedge the pieces.
Reassembly would be a breeze except for one thing - there's a piece with cutouts that slides over the blades and keeps the chopped pieces from getting in the chopping mechanism, and you have to slide it off the blades for cleanup, then slide it back on over the blades to reassemble. The PROBLEM is that there's very little wiggle room in the cutouts on that piece, and the material of the piece is a bit pliable, so the cutout spaces get compressed, making it a ROYAL PAIN to get it to line up properly to slide back up over the blades. I worked out a way that has it a bit easier, but it took a bit of trial and error, I'd explain it but I think it's not worth the trouble.
Thankfully I got it for only 5 bucks on sale at CVS/Pharmacy, so not such a terrible loss.

OXO Good Grips Mini Chopper Review

OXO Good Grips Mini Chopper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought my Mom this smaller-sized chopper for nuts, herbs, onions & scallions.
The good news: It chops evenly and efficiently, with a comfy plunging action.
The bad news: you have to take the entire chopper apart in order to clean it properly. There are multiple interior pieces and lots of nooks and crannies where food particles get trapped. And if you miss anything, it will mold in place (yuck.) We regularly needed hot soapy water, a toothbrush and about 10 minutes of scrubbing to clean everything out.
OXO has a deservedly great reputation for kitchen gadgets; this one needs a redesign for simplicity and easier cleaning.

The OXO Good Grips Mini Chopper is smaller and more efficient for fine dicing, so you can make easy work of tasks like chopping garlic. With a simple press of the soft knob, the blades rotate, ensuring even chopping. An internal soft bumper absorbs shock to increase comfort and reduce sound. Chop ingredients in the enclosed cup with its soft, non-slip base, or remove the base and chop directly on a cutting board. A tab rotates within the cup to prevent food from accumulating on the side walls. The entire blade cartridge can be removed from the chopper by simply unscrewing it, so clean up is a breeze. Rails and alignment notches on the blade cartridge make it easy to place back into chopper after cleaning. Best, the chopper is dishwasher safe.

Tupperware Quick Chef Food Processor and Chopper Review

Tupperware Quick Chef Food Processor and Chopper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own every kitchen gadget known to man. Well, okay, I am missing a couple, like the combo microwave and pizza oven. But really, I own just about everything out there for cooking, and this little doohickey is a gem. If you don't cut up your onions into smallish pieces (that is, if you insist on putting a half an onion in rather than quartering it), it may take a little strength to do the first twist or two, but the blades are very sharp and do a wonderful job after that. The other night, I made a killer apple, dried fig and balsamic vinegar glaze using this and it chopped the apples without mushing them at all. I just can't recommend this highly enough. Cleanup is extremely quick and easy as the whole thing is top-rack dishwasher safe.
