(More customer reviews)I have had this timer for about 5 years. The battery died recently and I have been lost without it! It has a dual function clip that either clips to your belt or opens as a stand. I use the magnet that is on the clip most of the time - it "lives" on my metal rangehood and is used for all kinds of things. Obviously for cooking/baking purposes, it is better than using the one on my range, because if I want to go outside for a short walk while dinner bakes or go downstairs to work on the computer, even to the back of the house to do laundry, I can take this timer with me. Whereas if I were to rely on the range timer, I'd never hear it go off and stuff would be overdone if not burned by the time I thought to get back w/in earshot of the the thing. I also use it for 3 naughty little boys for timeout. Kids aren't great at knowing how long "2 minutes" or "15 minutes" is, but if I tell them they are in timeout until the timer goes off, then they sit quietly or, ok, maybe not so quietly, as the case may be :o), until they hear it go off. The only reason I searched it on Amazon is because I wondered how much a new one would cost in comparison to a new battery. I'll probably just buy a new battery for now. The thing shows obvious wear, but still works great! It has a clock (with am/pm), a Count-up feature in addition to just being a timer.
