(More customer reviews)I had two of the Ekco "stick" type peelers. After years of using them to peel oranges one broke so I started looking for replacements. My searches on Amazon didn't turn up more Ekco peelers, so I bought and tried the Tupperware "stick" type and another brand's "finger hole" type. I finally found the Ekco peelers (on Amazon) and they're in my shopping cart now.
The "finger hole" type scores the peel as well as the Ekco and Tupperware, but the short sides are of little use in prying the peel off.
The "stick" type works better than the "finger hole" type for peeling off an orange's peel, but Ekco's is better than Tupperware for two reasons:
a) the Ekco blade is curved so it hugs closer to the shape of the fruit and does a better job of prying the skin off. The Tupperware blade is straight so it is easy to just poke it out of the peel, instead of skimming the peel off.
b) the Tupperware one feels like it is stronger (and stiffer) but it is also much smoother and sleeker with fewer indentations, so it is harder to grip when your hands are wet.
In all, my favorite one is the Ekco brand (and it looks like the one sold by Progressive is essentially the same).
