(More customer reviews)I bake gluten-free which requires that I use 4-6 different kinds of flour in order to get a product that's edible. Because of this, I need LOTS of storage containers! Even the cheapest gluten-free flours cost between 75 cents and $1.00 a cup. This makes a batch of rancid or bug-encroached flour an expensive disaster! After receiving my order of the Lock & Lock pitchers,(which I LOVE), I realized that I had been using a small Lock & Lock container for my butter for years! I bought it at Big Lots for a couple of bucks. It has kept my butter fresh, free of odors, and cleans up in the dishwasher without losing shape or sealing power! I decided to buy one 5-cup container to see if a bag of gluten-free flour would fit. It does! Up to now, I have been using Rubbermaid containers and, though they've worked well, I think the Lock & Lock will work much better. For one, you can open just three sides of the lid, leaving the lid on. This is convenient because the lid isn't lost on the counter behind the eggs, gathering baking mess, then needing to be cleaned! The square sides make every speck of flour accessible. They stack nicely. Finally, in my haste I have often pushed the lid on to the Rubbermaid and put it back in the cupboard not realizing that it wasn't completely sealed! That doesn't happen with the locking system of these containers. I've just ordered two more of the 5-cup containers and plan to, eventually, replace every storage container in my baking cupboard with Lock & Lock. My only complaint would be that the 5-cup containers don't come in "shrink wrap" budget sets! Nonetheless, I'll be putting these containers on MY budget spreadsheet for the next few months until my cupboard storage containers are completely replaced with Lock & Lock!
