Tupperware Smart Steamer in new green color Review

Saw this on the Dr. Oz TV show. Normally I use a basket to steam veggies in a copper bottomed pot on the stove.
On this product, the bottom only allows microwaves in. The big and small baskets and the top don't. Both baskets have holes in them. You put water in the bottom up to a line then pile the one and/or two baskets on top and add the lid. The microwaves heat the water on the bottom and the steam cooks the items in the baskets.
Very easy to clean. Can rinse out or put in dishwasher. It is expensive but looks like it will last quite awhile.
Food can be quite hot so it is recommended you leave in microwave for @5 minutes to let it continue cooking and cool down. Otherwise when you remove the top, a lot of really hot steam is emitted.
It comes with a chart showing best times per food item. Longest time on a single fill up of water is 25 minutes but most anything will be cooked between 10 and 17 minutes.
Nice touch is that underneath the lid is embeded the reminder to fill up to water mark on bottom, don't go longer than 25 minutes, don't go higher than 1200 watts.

UFO Silicone Lid Review

UFO Silicone Lid

I searched and searched and searched in vane for a plastic snap-on lid to cover my pet's partially eaten cans of food. But this little gadget works! It can lose its seal if it is bumped but it does what it says it does and it's easy to clean too. Just lay it over the top of your little can of pet food and push the center down to squeeze the air out and create a vacume between the UFO and the can. That's it.

Tupperware Microsteamer 10 1/2 cups (2.5L) Microwave Steamer, Purple Review

Tupperware thinks of everything. There is even a little vent on the lid to allow steam to escape when cooking in microwave. No instructions for use were included but I am okay with that. I bought this to steam veggies for 1 or 2 people. Size is just right to do the broccoli. Not worried about BPA or whatever the concerns are with using plastic in the microwave. From what I've learned, there's plenty of lead and cadmium in glassware or stoneware, and much of the stoneware on the market today is not certified for health safety. The NSF says plastic with a rating of 4 or 5 is generally considered safe. I think this is fine for low-level cooking in the microwave, and the product is designed so well -- the broccoli will steam fast it in it, so it will not be in the microwave very long anyway. All around, an idea product for a little light steaming of the vegetables. Convenient size stores easily in the cupboard without being bulky.
