I juicer rather seriously, usually a half-gallon at a time. Given this, I wanted a measuring cup of similar size to juice into and from which I could pour into jars for storage. I found this one for a great price locally and so picked it up.
I don't think Anchor Hocking uses borosilicate glass any longer, but given that I have no plans for using this cup for hot liquids, I guess it's not such a big deal. And I like the fact that the measurements are both avoirdupois and metric, that that they're raised, and that the cup is actually 2 liters, making it a bit more capacious than a half-gallon.
The problem--and it's major--is that the pour is AWFUL, even worse than that on recent Pyrex cups (unlike my beloved vintage models). What good is a measuring cup that doesn't easily and effectively allow you to pour without spilling its contents? I spend a lot of money on produce (we don't grow our own in Manhattan) which I expect to drink, not wipe off the counter.
It astonishes me that this wasn't given more consideration by Anchor Hocking's product development department. People, if it has a spout, users expect it to pour properly (DUH). If I want to spill liquids, I'll pour from a bowl or some such.
