Rubbermaid Commercial Products FG196600RED 9 1/2-Inch High Heat Spoon Scraper Review

These silicone spatulas are the highly recommended ones from a leading cooking magazine. So I purchased all these Rubbermaid professional heat resistant spatulas and spoonulas (9 ?", 13 ?" and 16 ?" in length). I use the spatulas primarily for folding ingredients in a mixing bowl. I prefer to use the spoonulas for scraping a bowl when I want to scrape out every last bit of cooking goodness (the edges of the spoonulas are thinner and the cupping of the spoonulas both help to scrape bowls, pans, and pots clean). The Rubbermaid professional plastic handles are more comfortable to use than the wood handles on my heat resistant spatulas and spoonulas. Also, the silicone heads of my wood handle ones are stiffer than the Rubbermaid professional ones. I think that little bit of flex in the Rubbermaid Professional silicone heads helps me scrape cleaner.
I have yet to use the little notch on these spatulas for scraping under the opening of jars (I think they were intended for use on the commercial kitchen size jars) since the spatulas are 2 ?" wide for the 9 ?" to 2 ?" wide for the 13 ?" and 16 ?" long tools. The handle ends have small prongs that look like they are to help keep the entire spatula or spoonulas from sliding into a work bowl.
I have some older Rubbermaid ones and they are definitely not stain resistant: the paprika has permanently stained one of the mixing spatulas. I was able to remove the paprika stain from the Rubbermaid professional spatula using dishwashing liquid and a nylon Scotchbright like pad. Also, my older Rubbermaid heat resistant spoonula developed a split at the tip and has warped a bit.
I just realized that one of the reasons why I don't like my similar sized 13 ?" sized silicone spatulas and spoonulas with wood handles: the working end is heavy so the tool is not as balanced as these Rubbermaid Professionals.
For most home kitchens, I'd recommend buying the 9 ?' and 13 ?" size spatulas and spoonulas. There is a 16 ?" size that is very long and the silicone head is the exact same size as the 13 ?: (14" actual) size (4" X 2 ?").
PROS: The silicone heads have just the right amount of flex to scrape cleaner than similar sized scrapers and spoonulas. The handles are more comfortable and sized well.
CONS: A bit expensive but you a get a tool likely to last.

Tupperware Smidgets in Pink and Red Set of 5 Review

Tupperware Smidgets in Pink and Red Set of 5
Average Reviews:

These are great containers. At first, I was very disappointed in how poorly of a fit the lid and container were. But I decided to try them anyway, and proceeded to sanitize them properly.
Being a chef for six years has taught me many things. One of which, you should always boil new plastic containers for at least a minute (best at 5 minutes) to remove any contaminants from manufacturing. We get enough plastics and other chemicals in our diets already. And if you are buying for your kid's lunches like I did, you should do this purely for your family's sake.
The trick to plastic containers with fitted lids is that after you boil them in plain tap water for at least one minute:
1. Remove from boiling water using a pair of tongs or a slotted spoon.
2. Tip the container/lid so most of the water drains back into the pot.
3. Immediately find it's matching container/lid from the pot, and after draining it as well, put the two pieces together.
4. Allow to cool.
5. The lid and container should now be a much better fit. They might still be snug, but should be much easier on your fingers.
Don't take my word for it though. Please only try one at first to make sure it works as well for you as it does for me.
I hope this helps everyone purchasing this product.

Snapware 18pc Glasslock Tempered Glass Storage Containers 18piece Set with Lids Review

I own a set of these as well as Pyrex glass storage boxes (a set of 3 square ones, 0.75L, 1.5L and 2.6L). I love them both. The majority of the containers in this set are smaller than the Pyrex ones. When I first saw them in a store, I had thought that they were too small to be useful (I use them to store leftovers), so I bought the Pyrex set instead. After using the Pyrex ones, I found them to be too big often times and hated having them take up rooms in my frig when they are half-empty (they are also heavy on the shelves). I went back to the store soon after to get this set and it's an excellent compliment to my Pyrex set. The glass is heavier than the Pyrex glass. The lids are water-tight while the Pyrex ones are not. They are dishwasher safe. I am so satisfied with them that I gave a set to my mother-in-law. I gave 4 stars because sometimes snapping open or close the lid on the largest size can put strains on my hands.

Tovolo 80-8003Y Yellow Groovy Ice Pop Molds, Set of 6 Review

Tovolo 80-8003Y Yellow Groovy Ice Pop Molds, Set of 6
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've used several ice pop molds over the years, and up until now I thought Tupperware's pop molds were by far the best. These Tovolo molds lack the ability to replace either the cap or the handle (they are one molded piece) but the plastic used in the cap/handle and the mold is easily the best I've ever seen for pop molds. It's too early to predict how well these will actually hold up after dozens of freezings and thawings, but if the quality of materials is any indication, they should last a long, long time.
One month later:
While I still think these are overall the best pop molds I've ever used, I did discover one thing about them (the hard way, naturally): don't drop them on anything hard (i.e., a tile floor) after they've been in the freezer for a day or more. The yellow caps/lids tend to get brittle after freezing, and they will crack and/or break. The opaque molds don't appear to have this issue, although I don't plan to intentionally test their break-resistance threshold. I glued mine back together with Barge Cement. It's not pretty but it's functional.

Tupperware Cake Taker/pie Stacker Set Review

Tupperware Cake Taker/pie Stacker Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this cake taker/pie stacker because I often make two pies and need to transport them, and this seemed to the best option. It was simply a bonus that I could also use it for cakes. From the quality perspective, I would not expect any less from Tupperware. This product is made from high-grade plastic material, is easy to open, and has a safety mechanism that prevents that top from coming off while you are carry it. The dome top is clearly large enough to hold a multi-layer cake.
However, on the down side, the internal pedestal that is intended to convert the cake taker to a dual-pie stacker, was not measured to fit pie dishes with handles on the side. I always use the 9.5-inch clear glass pie dishes from Pyrex. These dishes have a 1-inch handle on each side to assist in taking the pie from the oven (without mashing the crust). The yellow pie stacker insert is simply not wide enough to fit over the handles. This insert must have been designed with the pre-made pie crusts (available in the foil pan at the grocery store) or the decorative pie dishes (without handles) in mind, which is a major oversight in my opinion.
If this review were only based on product quality, it would clearly get five stars for the typical quality and guarantee offered by Tupperware products. However, I have to return it because the design does not meet my needs, and I would guess, that it would not meet the needs of many other avid pie makers like me. It is clearly not designed for pie dishes with handles on the side. Neither the product description on Amazon.com nor [...] indicated how large the pedestal was, so I assumed that it would fit my pie dishes. Hopefully, this review will help others avoid the headache that I'm facing.

Tupperware Measuring Mixing Mix Store Jug Review

The measuring cup is well made but it doesn't have our standard US measurements. There are no markings for the cup measure or ounces which makes it useless for almost all our recipes. We used a sharpie to mark 1 cup, but we are disappointed.

The Pampered Chef Medium Round Stone with Built in Handles on the Sides Review

The Pampered Chef Medium Round Stone with Built in Handles on the Sides

I received one of these Pampered Chef products from my wedding registry. After 6 weeks of use making breads and pizzas twice a week, the stone broke during baking. I called Pampered Chef to confirm the warranty and hopefully get a replacement. The Customer Service line informed me that they DO NOT WARRANTY any items sold from anyone that is not a Pampered Chef Consultant (think Amway). This includes all internet and in store purchases. If the company does not warranty the product, then you have wasted your money!
